The St. Thomas Guild

“Serving God, Our Church and Community”

The Guild meets the last Tuesday of each month, makes and sells apple dumplings each fall, and hosts the annual Christmas Bazaar featuring crafts, Christmas candy, cookies and more made by Guild members and helpers.  The Guild supports various missionary and aid endeavors and makes substantial contributions for building projects at the church.  The Guild also serves food at funerals and helps to provide food at church social functions.

The 2016 Guild President is Linda Swope.

In January, February and March, the Guild meets at 2:30 p.m. The remainder of the year the Guild meets at 7 p.m.

Guild programs and activities are listed in the weekly church Bulletins.

History of the Guild:

In 1897 a “Ladies’ Aid Society” was formed for what became the St. Thomas Union Church.  The object of the Society was “mutual acquaintance, Christian fellowship, and the performance of such church work as may suggest itself.”  The first Church supper in 1897 was a chicken and waffle meal served in the Church “cellar”; tickets cost 5 cents apiece.  In 1917 a Missionary Society was organized for the Reformed Church in order to aid missionaries in various places around the world.  In 1966 the two societies merged and became the “Ladies’ Guild of St. Thomas Church.”
