Monday Morning Musings

Isaiah 43:16-19

It is probably the most resisted action in humanity:  Change. Change is the opposite of certainty. The enemy of security. And yet, if one does not change certainty and security are actually lost. It is the same in our spiritual life and in the church. Here is a reminder of what we gleaned from Isaiah yesterday.

God is calling for his people to look for his movements.

God is doing a new thing.

God is doing something in your life now!

God is calling for his people to affirm his present work.

God is doing something unexpected.

Your witness is to declare the works of God in your life and in His church.

A word that is closely associated with “change” is “fear.” Write down one or two things that you know or you would like to change in your life. Write down the associated fear that might accompany it.

Open your Bible to Joshua 1. Moses, your leader is dead. He has been leading for more than forty years. He has been the voice of God to the people. There is a change coming. Read Joshua 1 with this in mind and try to write out what Joshua might have been wrestling with and what God did to assist him in his own fears.

How can this story help you today?  Read Hebrews 13:5-6.

Pray and ask the Lord to help you with change in your life and in the life of St. Thomas.
